Ginny Vellani announce she is leaving Elon at the end of May

The current acting director and coordinator of Jewish student life on campus, Ginny Vellani, will be leaving Elon at the end of May, according to an email sent to members of Elon Hillel Wednesday afternoon.

“I have loved working with you, and have been inspired every day by your energy, curiosity, and bright spirits,” said Vellani to Hillel members. “It has been a gift to be a part of your lives.”

Vellani came to Elon in 2012, and took over as director of Jewish student life when Nancy Luberoff left Elon Hillel in 2014.

“I’m so proud of the work we’ve accomplished over the past four years, as Elon’s Jewish population has almost doubled,” said Vellani.

According to the spring 2016 Registrar’s Report, 7.4 percent of Elon students identify themselves as Jewish.

Vellani says she will be pursuing other professional opportunities in the non-profit sector within the state of North Carolina.
