“We really want to go above and beyond, so some of our ideas this year are to really make this year special and kind of make it a huge impact,” said Elon junior Will Kelley. Kelley and his Kappa Sigma fraternity brothers want to make a difference. Thats why they’re all putting down their razors, and participating “No Shave November” for the 4th year in a row.

Participating in the event encourages participants to serve as “walking advertisement’, said Kelley.  But giving up shaving cream and a razor is going toward a bigger cause than just raising money.

“All the effort we are putting in, it’s kind of  leading by example, showing people that just a group of guys can get together and have a passion for doing something and really make an impact on their community,” said Kelley.

Their goal this year is to raise $20,000 for Prostate Cancer Awareness. Participants create a “Movember” page, post it to social media, and receive donations directly on the site. Kelley hopes people will be motivated to join the cause through Movember, or even create their own team. He also added that while it might not be the most glamorous, he and his fraternity brothers are happy to be helping a greater cause.

“We want to continue it no matter if you have 5 best friends who have family members going through it or nobody at the time” said Kelley. “There are so many people that are being affected by it, whether we know it or not.”
