School of Education names new dean
The school of Education has recently named a new dean. Ann Adams Bullock, an associate professor of education at East Carolina University, was selected to lead Elon’s education program after a national search.
Bullock was the chairwoman of ECU’s department of Elementary and Middle Grades Education for the past two years. She has also had experience working as an assistant professor at Winston Salem University, and a supervisor at both University of Richmond and St. Mary’s College.
Outside of teaching, she has conducted research on developing teacher portfolios and teacher preparation for middle grade instruction. Her research has been published in various books and journals, and she has given speeches at professional conferences over the past decade regarding her work.
Bullock also serves on the Teach for America Advisory Board in Durham, and has served on ECU’s College of Education Leadership Team for three years.
The associate professor’s move to Elon will put her in charge of 22 full time faculty members, as well as five faculty members from the College of Arts and Sciences who assist with teacher education programs. Elon’s School of Education enrolls about 250 undergraduate students and 75 graduate students, and provides degrees which can lead to a teaching license from the state of North Carolina.
Ann Bullock assumes her position as Dean on June 1.
