Student Hit by Car on East Haggard Avenue 

A first-year, female Elon student was hit by a car on East Haggard Avenue today, at the crosswalk outside of the Powell building, according to Director of the Elon University New Bureau’s, Eric Towsend, Twitter account.

According to Alamance County Communications, Elon Police and EMS responded to a call around 3:23 p.m. They got to the scene and closed down East Haggard Ave. around 3:30 p.m.

According to eyewitness Rachel Southmayd, the student was conscious and complained about leg, arm and head pains. Elon Town Police and Elon officials will not release a name until the family has been contacted.

She was rushed to Alamance Regional Hospital and is currently being evaluated.

The scene of the accident has now been cleared, and East Haggard Ave. is open for traffic.
