Explosions reported at Boston Marathon

Witnesses are reporting two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon shortly before 3 p.m.

According to Boston Police Commissioner, Ed Davis, two explosions occurred simultaneously on Boylston Street, and the third explosion occurred at JFK Library. There has not been another confirmed explosion.

Police are reporting of a third explosion, but say it was detonated intentionally, in a controlled area.

Boston Police tweeted around 4 p.m., saying that 23 injured and two have been killed.

Today is Patriot’s Day, a civic holiday in Massachusetts and parts of Maine, commemorating anniversary of The Battle of Lexington and Concord.

Many schools and business were closed today in observance of the holiday.

The Boston Marathon website says over 26,000 registered for this year’s race.

Elon’s admission site lists 9 percent of students are from the state of Massachusetts.

This is a breaking story. We’ll update as soon as we get more.
