North Carolina Recruits Headline Elon Football 2015 Signees

Local recruits headlined the 2015 National Signing Day Class for the Elon University football team. 13 of the 19 signees hail from the state of North Carolina, and all but one, defensive back Sam Eisenstadt, are from the southeastern region, an area that coach Rich Skrosky and his staff have focused on throughout the recruiting process.

“We’re being very aggressive, particularly starting in the state of North Carolina, of identifying our prospects as early as we possibly can and that’s already taking place [for the 2016 process] and that took place this time last year,” Skrosky said. “All the local guys had early offers, and that’s the way it should be.”

Of the 13 signees from North Carolina, two Alamance County standouts — wide receiver Tereak McCray of Williams High School and running back Malcolm Summers of Eastern Alamance High School — were included in the class.

Other members of the class included quarterback Daniel Thompson from Boiler Springs High School in South Carolina and running back Nick Theos. Thompson, who represented South Carolina in the annual Shrine Bowl will come in and compete immediately with redshirt-freshman Connor Christiansen for the starting job next season. Theos, will come in as a redshirt-freshman after spending the fall as a member of the Naval Academy football team. He has four years of eligibility remaining and could provide an immediate boost to an Elon rushing corps that was depleted by injuries in 2014.
