A long two week stretch of losing continued for the Elon Men’s Basketball team as the Phoenix fell for the fifth consecutive game, 58-77 on the road Wednesday night against William and Mary.

Elon (11-15, 3-10) has dropped nine of its last ten games and sits only above College of Charleston in the CAA standings.

William & Mary (16-8, 10-3) got out in front early, scoring 42 points in the first half. The Tribe had three players in double figures on the night. Omar Prewitt led all scorers with 19 points, while Marcus Thorton added 17 and Sean Sheldon tallied 11 points.

Freshman guard Elijah Bryant scored his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Phoenix.

Elon shot 40 percent from the field, but once again struggled from beyond the arc, finishing the night shooting just 13 percent from deep (3-22).

The Phoenix came up short in the rebounding battle, coming down with 30 matched to the Tribe’s 36.

Up next, Elon returns home to Alumni Gym to face JMU on Saturday, Feb. 14 at 7 p.m.
