Charleston, S.C. - On Saturday the Elon Baseball team dropped the second game in their series against The Citadel, losing 11-8 after nine innings. The series is now tied at one game apiece.

A resurgence in the ninth inning was not enough for Elon to overcome their 11-5 deficit heading into the final inning. Elon didn’t score in the three innings leading up to the ninth.

Nick Zammarelli and Quinn Bower led the Phoenix offense with two RBIs each. Jones, Venuto, and Cooper each contributed one RBI.

The Bulldogs offense was led by Johnathan Stokes who contributed a homerun and three RBIs. Also assisting was Philip Watcher who batted in two runs and Windham, Walsh, and Kinney wrapped it up with one RBI each.

Half of Elon’s scoring came in the second inning when they scored four runs. The Citadel’s best scoring didn’t come until later, in the seventh inning when they had five runners cross the plate.

Elon returns to the diamond on Sunday for the rubber game in its three-game series against The Citadel.
